The model for this drawing is a particularly expressive sort of still life: the words of the Israeli Declaration of Independence. In this action painting, the text is layered on the wall from the ground upwards, in a tight rectangular structure, as if it were a building. The altered reading direction, and the dense, overlapping lines, turn the text into a mass of shapes and blotches on the wall, supposedly disarming it of its original meaning.

After the scroll has been written, dated and signed by the artist, the unifying words all and people are erased. Holes appear in the structure; the running ink makes a murky puddle, containing a dark reflection of the writing on the wall. The work of art changes the canonical Declaration; the work and the performance hint at the ongoing changes in the Israeli society and ethos, especially since the passing of the “Nationality Bill” in 2019.
